EUROPE'S golfers are to blame for Team USA's rousing 6-2 victory on the first day of the Ryder Cup.

American players shared that Tiger's inspirational message before the match gave them extra energy and helped to ensure Europe had the worst start to the Ryder Cup in 46-years.

Tiger's words kept them going when they were facing tough times in the match.

Xander Schauffele (American star) spoke out about Tiger's message, and the impact it had on his team. He won his morning match against Patrick Cantlay.

"But Pat, I and others knew that we referred it a few more times today and knew what we had to do."

Even though Tiger will not be able to attend the tournament because of an injury he sustained earlier in the year, Schauffele and Co are confident that he will still cheer on the team.

He said, "We knew he was fist pumping from the couch.

"Regardless of whether he was on crutches, he was as energetic back home as anyone else so it's great to have his support."

US captain Steve Stricker also kept a close eye on Tiger's correspondence, but did provide a little more information than Schauffele.

He stated that the overall picture was to wish the guys luck and congratulations on making the team. Tiger also shared some personal thoughts.

Stricker also talked about the positive effect Tiger's has on the team from the sidelines.

The 54-year old revealed that he had been picking the 2019 Masters winner’s brain for Ryder Cup tips up until last week.

Stricker stated that he saw Stricker last week at home. He was very knowledgeable about Ryder Cup and he applied some of it here today.

"[There is] no better leader, no better role model than someone you can learn from,"

After suffering serious injuries in a car accident in February, Tiger was forced to withdraw from the American Ryder Cup team.

After the California crash, which saw his car plunge into a ravine and cause severe damage to both driver & car, the 45-year old underwent surgery.

He sustained multiple fractures to his lower right leg. Recently, he was wearing a protective knee-to-toe boot.
