John Daly shot amazing back 9 after downing FIVE beer in the locker room

TWO TIME major champion John Daly is making headlines this week. But perhaps his most memorable moment was when he competed at the LA Open.

Just hours after his opening round of the PGA Championship, the 56-year old was seen trying his luck at slot machines.

Legendary are the legends of the icon's antics far from the course.

On the first day at Southern Hills, the 1991 champion stole the show.

Daly started his round with three birdies on the first nine holes. He raced to the top 10.

His outrageous outfits were what really stood out, as the chain-smoking Californian was dressed in bizarre floral SKULL pants.

The back-nine was not as successful for the two-time Major winner, who ended up on +2.

PARTY ON

John Daly suffered a stroke once, but was released from hospital 6 hours later to continue drinking.

He still found time to kick by a trip to Hooters where he ate chicken wings and took photos with the staff.

His lifestyle is well documented over his three decades of career. His love for beer and cigarettes made him a favorite among golf fans.

He took his guilty pleasures to an extreme while competing in Los Angeles.

The icon discussed it on ESPN's documentary "Hit It Hard" and revealed that he had consumed FIVE BEERS before shooting an amazing back nine.

Daly stated that he had never consumed alcohol on the course, aside from one occasion, which was the LA Open.

"It was slow, and I played the back nine last. I believe I'm two to three over.

"I went to the locker room, downed five beers, and I think that I shot four under on my front nine.

"That was the first time I remember ever drinking during a round. I played great. That week, I was great. I came in strong."

Graham Bensinger also interviewed Daly and he admitted that he would arrive at events drunk or hungover from a previous drink.

After a few dropouts, he burst onto the scene at the 1991 PGA Championship. He won the title at the first attempt, despite being ninth alternate.
