BIG-HITTING Bryson deChambeau has "wrecked his hands" as he prepares to compete in long drives and for the Ryder Cup.
Next week, the 28-year-old American golfer will be making his second appearance at Whistling Straits against Europe.
Bryson de Chambeau was selected for the USA Ryder Cup team
Last season, Bryson de Chambeau was first in longest drives with an average length of 323.7 yards
DeChambeau will then travel to Nevada, where he will compete in the Professional Long Drive World Champions.
After two swing speed training sessions, the 2020 US Open Champion revealed that his hands are covered with calluses.
Golf.com spoke to him: "My hands are a wreck from it, people don’t realize how long and difficult it is."
"I do it every single week. It is daunting. It's not. It was scary at first when I tried to do it last season.
"But, now that I have been through it and felt the worst pains, as well as the most relaxed and unaffected state where I don't do any speed training, it's easier to balance it. Why not try hard and do both?
"Golf is the only thing that you can measure your achievements by a number.
"Not by playing golf. You can catch a sprinkler head, a bad break, or bad wind.
"FlightScope allows you to see the ball speed number. It's unique and different.
It's like a shot-putter shot putting a new record. It's about maximizing your potential and breaking through."
DeChambeau has been attempting to hit the ball harder for the past few years, as evidenced by his growing muscles.
With an average distance of 323.7 yards from the tee, he ranked first in length drives last season and is the first PGA Tour professional to take on the long-drive challenge.
