Ryder Cup star Brooks Koepka doesn't like golf being a gentleman's sport and would love to trash-talk throughout his round

AMERICAN Brooks Koepka doesn't like the idea that golf is a gentlemen's game. He hates it and will trash talk his opponents during rounds.

31-year-old major winner is looking forward to a more partisan atmosphere at the Ryder Cup at Whistling Strits this month.

Koepka spoke to Golf Digest and stated that "Golf doesn't really have a sport where you can trash talk", but that he could trash talk with the best.

"I don’t want to suggest that gamesmanship is trash talk. But it crosses the line.

"If I go with my friends, the things I say to them are completely different. You'll hear every bad shot.

"On tour it's all about the small things. The truth is that I get more satisfaction beating everyone than anyone else.

"I feel so satisfied that something is wrong with my head about it."

Koepka is one the most spiky pros on the PGA Tour, and has a very frosty relationship to Bryson DeChambeau.

The rivals have qualified for Steve Stricker’s US Ryder Cup team. This means that the pair will need to get along for the next few weeks.

After a remarkable seven-point win at Le Golf National in France three year ago, Team Europe is the current champions.

The Europeans are led by John Rahm, World No1 - but Koepka will fight in Wisconsin.

He said, "It doesn’t matter what we’re doing. It [Koepka’s competitiveness] are so intense.

"It might not be obvious, but I am so determined inside to beat you at everything we do.

It eats me up in the inside. You could play pingpong, cornhole or any other game. I'm just trying to embarrass.

"If golf weren't the gentlemen's sport it is, I'd trash talk my way through it."

"I would love to be in NFL and just stand over [Kansas City Chiefs safety] Tyrann Matthewieu after a tackle."
