The 43rd Ryder Cup begins Friday at Whistling Straits. The winner will be announced on Sunday.

Team Europe is looking to retain their trophy after winning in Paris in 2018. Team USA has won it just once in five previous contests.

A team must win the cup by claiming 14-and-a half of the available points.

There are 28 matches across the three days to attempt to reach the magic number.

Each match is worth 1 point. However, if both sides are tied after 18 holes then a half-point will be awarded to each team.

Friday and Saturday's action will include four foursomes and four fourball clashes. Then, all twelve players from each side will take to the Whistling Strits course on Sunday for singles matches.

Sergio Garcia and John Rahm from Spain are the first to take part in Team Europe's first foursomes match on Friday. They will be facing Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.

Before all that, there was the gala dinner and the opening ceremony.

On Wednesday, the wags looked great in their own attires and then again at Thursday's ceremony when they were in matching outfits.
