Ian Poulter was able to nail his first Ryder Cup drive despite his heart rate exceeding 133 BPM

On Friday, the golf legend took to his fairway to play in a match with Rory McIlroy.

Poulter was composed as he drove the ball with ferocious speed.

However, viewers were shocked to see his heart rate rise to 133 after he had just been at 118.

One stated that his heart rate rose from 118 to 133 when he stepped onto the ground... Still hit a nice shot on the tee.

Another said: "I would like to know what Poulter's heart beat is right now."

One tweet: "Heart rate monitor for Poulter on that first Tee shot was tremendous, watching as it rose every second until he took his swing."

Another observation: "Watching these players' heart rates rise as they move up to the tee, is fascinating."

SunSport exclusively spoke to Poulter this week. He revealed that he is a "physical wreck" because of the Ryder Cup's high emotions.

He stated that he was a wreck three weeks after each of his games.

These are the most amazing three days to be mentally and emotionally. I cannot get out of bed. I'm spent. I will have cold sores and look and feel terrible. My body will be exhausted.

I might appear to have all the energy the world when singles are on Sunday afternoons. However, by Tuesday, I'm a shell of man. "I've given everything."

Paul Casey, Paul Casey's teammate, added: "Poults (the guy all Americans want to beat) but they don’t manage it very often.

"I don’t know what it is that makes him tick, but he’s unique. He is the glue of this team.

"We don’t lack energy and we’ll always be a very united team. But he just adds so much to it.

"You don’t see what you get to see in the locker rooms and in the team room. This morning he just rolled by and you can see the bounce in his step."
