Rory McIlroy has the perfect pre-US Open boost as he travels to Brookline this morning after his first PGA Tour win since October.
McIlroy kept the Canadian Open title that he held since 2019, although the event was cancelled the previous two years due to Covid. He then made fun of Greg Norman, the LIV Series' supremo.

McIlroy showed great courage to win the PGA Tour's first ever victory this year, in a final round at -8
McIlroy condemned the breakaway circuit's cash-hungry nature and he acknowledged that his 21st PGA Tour win - over a field that included five of the top ten world players - was even more significant as it saw him finish one stroke ahead of Norman.
McIlroy, 33 years old, said: "This day will be a memory I will cherish for a long period of time. My 21st Tour win, which was one more than anyone else I could mention. After all the other events, that was a huge incentive.
It is always a good feeling to be in the Winner's Circle, especially when you are so close to a Major. I feel great about my game.
"It took me some time to get started after the Covid break. But, I re-dedicated my self to doing what makes you happy.
Four-time Major champion appeared to be on track for victory. He played the first 12 holes with a magnificent eight under par to jump into a three shot lead.
Justin Thomas, playing partner, was able to draw level with Justin Thomas despite a poor three-putt on the 13th hole and another bogey at the 16th. It looked like the American had taken the momentum.
McIlroy was able to regroup and finish the round with a stunning birdie-birdie. He finished eight under par 62.
This was enough to win Tony Finau by two shots. Thomas finished third after his bogeys at 17-18.

Justin Rose missed a chance to be the first golfer with a 59 and more than one bogey. He made a mess on the last hole.
Rose, 41, missed shots at the par five 9th and short 16th. However, Rose had three eagles on the par 70 St Georges course and seven birdies, so he only needed a par to become the 12th PGA Tour player to shoot a sub-60 round.
The 2013 US Open champion, however, was only 153 yards from the flag at the semi-rough on 18 and he took a flier to mail the green.
He was unable to stand and sign for a ten under 60 and a share in fourth place.
