Security escorted the prankster who was controlling the ball away

McIlroy (33), was participating in the third round BMW Championship when the incident occurred.

The Northern Irish star, who was putting up a putt at 15 th hole had to be interrupted by a punter who tossed a golf ball onto the green.

The ball began to move by itself amusingly with the cheeky prankster controlling the ball remotely from the sides.

It appeared that he was Niko Omilana (an internet comedian), who later tweeted "rory Mcilroy has become an enemy for life."

McIlroy, however, failed to see the humor in the FedEx Cup playoffs' second tournament.

McIlroy tried to stop the ball from bouncing around his feet with his putter.

He won when the fan failed him to direct the ball into the hole.

McIlroy stared at the wag, before throwing the gadget with all he had.

McIlroy was unable to make his birdie putt, but still managed to score a 70 for the round.

It was clear where he intended to throw it.

This is because the ball landed directly in an open lake of water near the course.

McIlroy watched as the remote-controlled ball owner became upset.

The comedian was not able to protest, as security quickly arrived and hauled him off the course.

As he was being taken away, the man was mocked by the crowd.

McIlroy was not to be denied, and he ended up missing his birdie shot at the hole.

He pulled it back later to complete the round with a 70.

McIlroy is only five shots behind leader Patrick Cantlay.
