Paige Spiranac has a go at football stars like Gareth Bale who play golf instead of football

PAIGE SPIRANAC has slammed stars of other sports who try to make it as golf pros after retiring.

The influencer was taking part in an Instagram Q&A when the topic came up.

Paige Spiranac had her say on stars of other sports turning to golf

Gareth Bale has always been a keen golfer

Bale, 33, made his PGA Tour debut just 23 days after announcing his football retirement earlier this year.

Paige was asked on Insta: “Why do you think some athletes from other sports try to cross over to golf?”

And she pulled no punches with her response.

She said: “This is actually a big pet peeve of mine.

“When athletes from other sports are done with their career and are like ‘you know what? Now I’m gonna switch to golf. Now I’m gonna become a professional golfer’.

“And it’s because they’re doing it as a hobby and they really like the game of golf and they’re pretty good golfers.

“Maybe they’re a scratch handicap or a plus one or two. But that’s not gonna cut it on the LPGA or the PGA Tour.

“It’s just… not. You can’t just all of a sudden pick it up and think you’re going to be that level.

“And I think they don’t value how difficult it is physically and mentally and everything that goes along with being a pro golfer.

“It’s not gonna happen.”

While Bale loves playing golf in his retirement, Wrexham owner Rob McElhenney has made a cheeky attempt to bring him back to professional football.

In a short video clip, the former Tottenham and Real Madrid star said: “Hi Rob, just want to congratulate you on your promotion and everything you’re doing at Wrexham.”

McElhenney posted the clip to his Twitter account, alongside an audacious message.

Tagging the five-time Champions League winner, he wrote: “Hey @GarethBale11 let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season
