Padraig Harrington will follow the example of Thomas Bjorn, former captain, and get a tattoo if Team Europe win the Ryder Cup

PADRAIG HARRINGTON is set to copy Thomas Bjorn, former Europe captain, if he wins Ryder Cup - and get a Tattoo.

After the Americans had been famously expulsed, the Dane inked the Paris score in 2018 on his backside.

After leading Team Europe to victory, Thomas Bjorn got the 2018 Ryder Cup score tattooed onto his body

Harrington, a 50-year-old Irish skipper, is not afraid to do the same, having made a promise to his men.

The captain for 2021 stated that he was delighted with the amount they asked, but that he would have given up much more. Yes, I will get a tattoo.

"If my team wins a week, I'll get a tattoo to commemorate the occasion."

"They only asked me so much because I would have given even more. It's very comforting.

"I believe it's an unwritten principle, so it has been brought up in conversation.

"Maybe they didn’t ask. Perhaps they didn't ask.

Harrington said, "But absolutely, yeah, that's a given now, in Europe. Captain must get a tattoo.

"And at this point, I don't have any tattoos so it would be an entirely new experience.

"Where is the body?" It's not clear. It all depends on how long it takes.

Rory McIlroy, on the other hand, has been practicing happy-go-lucky preparations for the Ryder Cup by channeling his Happy Gilmore.

McIlroy is a big fan of the slapstick movie about golf, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.

After exchanging a humorous message of congratulations to Adam Sandler (star and co-writer of the hit film), the pair agreed to meet on a course to compare their runs and hit methods.

McIlroy was seven years old when Happy Gilmore came out. However, he claims he watched the film many times and decided to commemorate its special anniversary.

The 2016 and 2019 Tour Championship winners used Twitter to honor their 'fellow champions'.

McIlroy stated: "Hey Adam! It's Rory here. Fellow Tour Championship winner. I am sorry that you are unable to be there this week. We wish you could be here.

To commemorate your victory at the Tour Championship, I have a replica Calamity Jane putter and a gold jacket.

"I just wanted to thank you for all the laughter that you have given us over the years. Happy Gilmore is my favorite movie.

"You are amazing. I would love to have the opportunity to meet you. We will hopefully be able to meet up soon.

The camera zooms in on Happy Gilmore’s honorary clubhouse locker at East Lake, Atlanta's Tour Championship venue.

Sandler was clearly touched by the gesture and immediately replied to it with a tweet message: "Love you Rory. Thank you for your kind words.

"I look forward to playing with all of you real soon."
