Masters are 'inclement weather' and have been 'dissolved'. Stars were'soaked like a family at Splash Mountain Disneyland'

BAD weather saw the third round of the Masters halted early.

Torrential downpours at Augusta prompted chiefs to suspend play for the remainder of the day at 3.15pm local time (8.15pm UK time).

Torrential rain saw play on day three of the Masters halted early

Play was stopped with Brooks Koepka four shots clear of Jon Rahm at the top of the leaderboard

The forecast for Sunday looks better than Saturday

Play was halted with leader Brooks Koepka having completed six holes of his third round.

At -13, the American is four shots clear of Jon Rahm in second.

A tweet from tournament organisers said: “Due to inclement weather conditions, the third round has been officially suspended for the rest of the day as of 3:15 p.m. EDT.

“Further information will be announced once available.”

Fans were left joking in the comments section at the sodden conditions, with others fuming that play had been abandoned for the day completely.

One wrote: “Inclement? Let’s have some fun with this one! ‘Due to patrons being completely soaked like a family at the splash mountain at Disneyland, and players running out of sponsored rain gear, we’ve decided to suspend play. Please feel free to visit the merchandise store aka Xanadu.'”

Another wrote: “Just when the golf gets started it hoons it down in Georgia!”

A third added: “Knowing the rain was going to be an issue!! You should have started viewing early! You could have done this the last two days! Make better decisions!”

And a fourth quipped: “Ridiculous…. 4 and half hours of daylight still and call it off… Bet in a couple of hours it will be playable.”

Play was also suspended on Friday after three trees toppled over on the course.
