Lee Westwood's son Sam is who? And why is he caddying at the Ryder Cup for his father?

LEE WESTWOOD has his fiancee as his caddy at Major championships, but not at Ryder Cup.

As was the case at the Masters, the Englishman will have his son Sam, aged 19, carry his clubs instead of Helen Storey throughout the week.

Helen will be in Whistling Straits this week to cheer on her husband, but she has decided not to become his carddy.

Who is Lee Westwood’s son Sam?

Sam was born in 2001. He has a sister named Poppy.

Laura Coltart is Sam's mother. She was married to Westwood in 1999 and then divorced 18 years later.

Westwood previously stated that Sam was initially not interested in golf but has since grown to love the sport.

Westwood stated that Sam didn't want golf for a while, and that he understands it.

"But he really is into it now, and that's helped us. He's been pulling me out of trouble when I wouldn't have gone.

It helps me to teach him lessons. I have taught him by watching me swing the club. He also has the same faults as me, so it's almost like teaching myself a lesson.

Lee Westwood explained that Sam was his son's caddy and stated that Storey would be back at tournaments later in the year.

Westwood stated before the Masters, "It's an negotiation process."

"I think Helen is doing the PGA Championship, and the Open.

"I am not yet sure what the Ryder Cup is." If I am accepted into the team, we'll cross that bridge.

Westwood was also thrilled to have the chance to spend time with Sam as a father-son this week at Augusta National.

"I have a couple of fun days ahead. My son Sam and I will be playing Augusta. "Tomorrow's going to turn out to be a great Monday," Westwood stated.

It's his first time playing there. Although he was there years ago with me, he is now caddying in the Masters for me. I am taking him to 36 holes on Monday and Tuesday.

"Be a good lads-and-dads trip. It is a great opportunity.
