Lee Westwood has lashed out at the Ryder Cup scramble, which has left him and other European stars sweating on Whistling Straits.
After a second round 67 at The BMW PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy was elevated to fourth on the European points lists by Bernd Wiesberger, Bernd Wiesberger is certain to take his place.
Westwood was not impressed with the preparations the players received before the Ryder Cup.McIlroy's four-time major champion needs only a Wentworth top 50 finish to be the Austrian ace. This would allow McIlroy to jumpfrog over him.
It will happen at the expense of Matthew Fitzpatrick or Westwood, as well as Shane Lowry who are the men in the last three spots on the world ranking.
There could be an even greater shake-up with Justin Rose challenging for an automatic spot.
Westwood is bidding for an 11th appearance with European colours. This is less than two weeks before the battle against the Americans at Whistling Straits.
He stated that there are so many variables in the way the qualification was set up this time. This tournament is loaded in comparison to all the other we have done. I think it's something worth looking at in the future.
"I don't think many of these guys need it right now. We are so close to the Ryder Cup and knowing what that will be like. This will be exhausting for some, and you want the Ryder Cup to go well.

You can see the reactions of players on the course. While they are there to compete and win big tournaments, they also have other things in their heads.
"Having said all that, I have played with Shane for the first two days and he has managed to play well and block everything out. This makes Shane Lowry the player you want to be on your Ryder Cup team.
Lowry is eight shots off Kiradech Aphirbarnrat's par total, Rose is one shot closer to the halfway leader.
Westwood is currently at four under par and needs to have a great weekend in order to keep his automatic spot.
Fitzpatrick is still a good distance ahead of his world points rivals but cannot afford to be second best.
Rose's 20-footer at the last hole for birdie earned him the biggest cheer. Rose is pushing for his wildcard claim to Padraig Harrington, even though he doesn't make the team from far back.
