Play was stopped to allow the individual time to recover before he was stretchered to an ambulance, reports ESPN writer Paolo Uggetti.

The PGA Tour discussed resuming play with players, some of whom were not keen to continue.

Amateur Lukas Nelson, whose caddie fell ill, revealed he was “doing better” after receiving medical attention.

The caddie was carrying clubs for four players – two amateurs and two professionals, who were just over halfway through their round.

Nelson and Geoff Couch as amateurs, while Max McGreevy and Beau Hossler were the pros.

McGreevy said to ESPN that the caddie “collapsed in the middle of the fairway and they attempted to get his bag off him quickly so they could try CPR.”

It was reported shortly after that the group have been allowed to pause their round and have since headed back to the clubhouse to ‘regroup’.

It is unclear whether they will return to the course to finish their second round.
