This tragedy occurs after Bryant's 34-year-old wife, Cathy, died in April 2017 just 11 months after he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Bryant had previously spoken of his wife's passing, telling the PGA Tour that his family did a lot of mourning before her death.

He said, "When she died, it wasn’t wow. What is this?" I had already seen it. It was all I could hope for, but it was already there. I knew what to expect. It was something I did my research on.

"We talked a lot about it. We were not overwhelmed when it came. We were glad we all were there for her. We were prepared, and that helped us all tremendously. We are still grieving, but we won't stop for a while.

FAMILY TRAGEDY

Texas shooting victim and his husband died in a heartbreaking funeral.

Bryant explained that Cathy was diagnosed stage 4 glioblastoma following a visit to the hospital for severe nausea and headaches.

Cathy died despite the most severe treatments. Bryant stated that she maintained a positive outlook even during the worst days.

She never doubted it and she didn't have any fear about it. Bryant shared that she never felt cheated, despite having a somewhat short life today.

She didn't embrace it, but I won't lie to you. She wanted to live. She was so positive and happy that it made life easier for everyone. She was positive and always grateful for the help of others.

Bryant was not interested in sharing his thoughts with Cathy, so Cathy asked Bryant about what he was doing during her final months. Bryant replied that he had other priorities.

He stated that he knew there wouldn't be many opportunities to spend time with her. "I'm going to stay around.

In 2018, he married Donna, his second wife.

Bryant is a three-time PGA Tour champion and the only player to defeat Tiger Woods during the 2005 TOUR Championship tournament.

Jay Monahan, the tour commissioner, confirmed Bryant's passing on Wednesday. He said: "The PGA Tour is saddened at Bart Bryant's tragic passing and our hearts go out for his family and friends during this difficult period."

"The Bryants were a part the PGA Tour family over forty years and we are grateful to the impact and legacy he had on our organization as well as many communities. Bart will be greatly missed."

Bryant became a professional in 1986, but he suffered from injuries during his early years.

After sustaining a shoulder injury, he considered quitting the sport.

He won his first PGA Tour victory in 2004, at the Valero Texas open, and became the 41-year-old oldest winner.

Bryant won three PGA victories at the age of 40. Two of them were in 2005, when he won the TOUR Championship, and Memorial Tournament.
