WEST HAM fan Billy Horschel celebrated his win with Mark Noble, Hammers captain, and Declan Rice, star midfielder.

Noble and Horschel have become good friends and carry the West Ham colors and crest on their golf bags.

Noble was there with Rice when Horschel's spectacular final hole birdie, which completed a round 65, gave him a one shot win at the BMW PGA Championship.

The Irons skipper said: "We are so proud of him, it was an honor to watch him win."

Horschel was PS960,000 more richer and stated that Mark contacted him to ask if we could have dinner before we returned. I accepted.

"It should be quite the celebration - and it's not hard to pick up the bill!"

Florida's golfer was the second American to win Europe’s flagship event after Arnold Palmer in 1975. This gave Padraig Harrington, Ryder Cup captain, a timely reminder about how hard it will be to defeat the Americans.

Steve Stricker, the USA captain, snubbed Horschel when he announced six wildcards for his team last week. He is currently World Match Play champion.

Stricker did not call him to tell him he wasn't needed. He admitted that he didn't play well enough or consistent enough after winning the Match Play to merit a pick.

"I was disappointed that I didn't receive a call this week. I was not expecting the call to tell me that I had made it on the team.

"But I was disappointed that I didn't receive a call to let me know, 'Hey! You didn't make it'. My mind was set that I would at most get that call, so that there was some motivation.

However, Whistling Straits will see a number of European players who could not live with Horschel at Wentworth.

After a thrilling day of twists in the final qualifying event Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick were able to celebrate their automatic qualifying positions in the team.
