‘So what you’re saying is..’ – Fans share wild theory as Scheffler cards BEST-EVER second round at Majors after arrest

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER may be in a pickle about how to prepare for the second round of his future golf majors after fans picked up on a wild theory.

Scheffler had to warm up in a jail cell after he was arrested following a clash with police in the hours before the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY, USA.

Fans had a fan theory with Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler had his joint best performance in the second round of a major after he was arrested

Pictures showed the 27-year-old had been detained before police released a mugshot of him.

The American was charged with a felony offence of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer.

Scheffler was released and managed to make his tee off in time.

And the world No1 golfer produced an excellent display as he shot a five under par score of 66.

However, fans online caught wind of a remarkable statistic off the back of his second round.

His five under par score in the second round turned out to be the second best he has ever done in a golf tournament, level with the five under par he hit in the second round at The Masters in 2022.

The revelation left fans stunned, while many social media users couldn’t help but make a joke about it.

One fan said: “Seems to be a significant correlation with success and going to jail. Scottie might want to consider doing that more often.”

A second said: “If he’s superstitious he will arrange to be arrested for every round two.”

A third added: “So, what you’re saying is….”

Another said: “I’m hearing that he needs to go to jail more.”

However, Scheffler may not agree after admitting he was left “rattled” by the incident.

Scheffler told reporters: “It was a chaotic situation and a big misunderstanding. My head is still spinning.

“I was pretty rattled, to say the least… I was never angry, I was just in shock. I was shaking for about an hour.”

He added: “We had a nice chat in the car that kind of helped calm me down.

“I was sitting there waiting to go in and I asked him ‘Can you just come hang out with me for a few minutes so I can calm down?’.

“When I was sitting in the holding cell, there was a TV there and I could see myself on the TV.”

Fans saw the funny side of the incident and wore t-shirts with Scheffler’s mugshot on the front.
