Sky Sports give popular commentator a stern warning after sexist comments during bizarre segment of Open coverage

SKY SPORTS commentator Wayne Riley was warned by his bosses after making a sexist comment during The Open, according to reports.

Riley, 61, was part of Sky‘s coverage from Royal Troon earlier this month.

During one segment, the Aussie former golf pro gave viewers a behind-the-scenes tour of the workout facilities on site.

The tour included Riley receiving a massage from a therapy gun.

As he had his shoulders worked on, the Sydney-born former golfer smiled and groaned.

He then saw fit to quip: “I tell you what, if that could cook and clean I’d marry it.”

According to the Mail, the clip landed Riley, who was known as “Radar” during his playing career, in hot water.

They claim that the father-of-four was given a “dressing down” by bosses for his comments.

And they add that both Sky and Riley were contacted following the incident.

In addition to going out the first time, the controversial segment also featured in a highlights package shown hours later.

Riley was told that he must “take care” with his choice of words in future.

But it was accepted that he meant no harm, or to cause offence.
