Scottie Scheffler pictured in orange jumpsuit for mugshot as world No1 golfer charged with assault & ‘criminal mischief’

POLICE have released a mugshot of world No1 golfer Scottie Scheffler.

The 27-year-old was sensationally pictured being handcuffed by Louisville cops outside of the PGA Championship earlier today.

Footage showed Scheffler being escorted to a cop car

Scheffler was later arrested on charges of second degree assault, criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officer directing traffic

He was seen in handcuffs hours before he was due to tee off at Valhalla.

Stunning photos showed the American being escorted to a cop car after allegedly failing to follow police orders during a pedestrian fatality probe.

It came just hours before the Masters champion was due to tee off for the PGA Tour at Valhalla Golf Club.

Scheffler reportedly stepped out of his car after a police officer threw himself onto the vehicle and screamed at him to stop.

The officer then shoved him against the car and placed him in handcuffs, before putting him in the back of a police car.

It is believed the incident took place after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past a police officer into the golf club.

The police report released alongside the photo revealed what he was charged with and confirmed he was booked at 7.28am local time.

It said he was arrested on charges of second degree assault, third degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officer directing traffic.

The start of play for the second round was delayed after a totally unrelated fatal collision outside the course.

Louisville Metro Police Department released a statement on the incident.

It said: “About 5:00 ET this morning, the LMPD responded to a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a bus.

“Our preliminary investigation found that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Shelbyville Roadsouth to north when he was struck by a shuttle bus that was traveling eastbound in the compulsory center lane dedicated for buses.

“As a result, the pedestrian received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.”

ESPN have reported that Scheffler has now been released and could arrive at Valhalla within 10 minutes.

This would give him an hour to prepare for his second round and make his 3:08pm tee off.
