Paige Spiranac targeted by thousands of vile trolls who brandished golfer ‘fat and ugly’ after Sexiest Woman Alive award

PAIGE SPIRANAC revealed that her Maxim Sexiest Woman Alive’ award was corrupted by "thousands” of online trolls.

After receiving the gong in June 16, the 29-year-old former golf pro was subject to a torrential of abuse.

Paige shared that she was subject to a barrage of hurtful messages. Some even called her "fat" or "ugly".

The influencer shared that she was bullied at school for her hair loss.

Spiranac jumped on her podcast Playing A-Round in celebration of her new crown and to update her fans about what she described as a "period of intense ups, downs."

Paige spoke on her podcast and said that there have been "highs and lows" of emotion since the news.

"What people don’t prepare you for is that when they call you the'sexiest women alive', hundreds of thousands of people will tell you why you shouldn’t be.

"It's so exciting..and I don’t think anyone should say that she is the sexiest female alive. I don't think so!

"How can I be named Angelina Jolie when this world doesn't have Angelina Jolie?"

"So, I feel already a little insecure about everything, and then there are thousands of people saying 'you're ugly or fat, you look this, you do that,'.

"It's okay! There have been many days of intense emotions, excitement about [the award], but also these feelings.

"People asked me why I wasn't tweeting about the US Open. I replied, "I cannot open social media right at this moment."

Amanda Rose, Paige's cohost, replied incredulously: I mean...no. It's a no. "It never crossed my mind to imagine that this could happen."

After receiving her award last month, Paige spoke out against bullying.

Spiranac also revealed some of her hateful experiences with online abusers in 2018.

She stated that she had been bullied all her life. I'm slut shamed and harassed. I also get death threats because I wear the clothes I like.

"No one ever sees me as the person or the great work I do.

"People say these words and think it's funny, or that it doesn't have any affect on them. They think words don’t mean anything and words cut deep.

Paige was very busy in June. She was vocal about her disgust at players who were part of the Saudi-backed LIV Tour.

Brooks Koepka was criticized for leaving the PGA - and she even poked fun at his long-standing feud with Bryson deChambeau.

After her comments in a viral video about Matt Fitzpatrick, the US Open champion, she attacked "dumb people".
