Paige Spiranac responds to bizarre reports that an angry Team USA member is refusing to wear Ryder Cup caps in silent protest

PAIGE SPIRANAC believes that Patrick Cantlay’s Ryder Cup stance goes against “playing for pride” rather than money.

Cantlay, 31, has been in action for Team USA against Europe this weekend.

The US have gotten off to a torrid start and currently trail 9.5 to 2.5.

According to reports Cantlay has been part of a dressing room split within Zach Johnson’s ranks.

Sky Sports claim that Cantlay and pal Xander Schauffele have been sitting separately to their team-mates.

Cantlay’s issue reportedly stems from feeling that players should be paid to play in the prestigious event.

In a silent protest, the American star – who has earned around £50million during his career – has refused to wear a team cap.

He is said to have also skipped the team’s gala dinner.

Responding to a report about the dressing room split, Spiranac seemed unimpressed.

The 30-year-old influencer tweeted: “Really goes against the whole we play for pride and not money LIV narrative lol.”

Earlier this year, Cantley was said to be rallying against the PGA Tour‘s controversial merger with the Saudi-backed LIV Tour.

Spiranac, meanwhile, was gutted by the poor start that Team USA got off to yesterday.

She tweeted: “Me waking up and looking at the Ryder Cup score.”

Spiranac then shared a picture of her breaking down in tears during a press conference back in 2016.
