It's supposed to be hard to get your first Major.

Even if you have nothing to lose at the halfway stage.

Scheffler, the World No. 1 player, is poised to win his first Major.

Even the number one in the world isn't immune to the gremlins, when the heat is on.

Scottie Scheffler was in paradise for 11 holes yesterday at Augusta.

He finished six shots clear of the field with four birdies and one dropped shot. The only threat was from Cameron Smith, an Australian.

Amen Corner was able to help the rest of field. Scheffler hit the front bunker, and then went through back of green.

SCOTTIE'S ANGUISH

Scheffler is driven to Masters glory after his best friend's tragic death from lung cancer

From a position of apparent total strength, the wheels began to come off.

Scheffler briefly steered the ship at 13.

As tension gripped, however, the certainty vanished.

Dropped shots at 14 & 15 - thanks three putts at the back of green - saw the lead drop to three and four, respectively after a birdie.

Scheffler was forced to search the trees to find his ball after a terrible pull at the last tee. He then took a penalty drop.

His third shot, which he took from 237 yards, went through the back. This was remarkable considering the circumstances. The chip back brought a one-putt birdie.

This means that his lead is now just three shots, with only 18 holes remaining.

Scheffler is the latest of the faceless, boy-owned college graduates to rise to prominence.

However, a lackluster charisma doesn't necessarily mean that you are lacking talent.

Scheffler's incredible four-under par back nine of 32 on Friday gave him a five-shot lead.

In the event's 88-year history, only once has a 36-hole five-stroke leader not worn the Green Jacket. This was way back in 1936.

Scheffler is determined to not change this statistic.

Scheffler's perfect chip on the right side of the first resolved any wobbles. Scheffler then followed up with back-to-back birdies at two, and three.

There was no panic even though his one mistake, the fourth par three, was reprimanded with a dropped shot.

It is also in line with Scheffler’s character.

Sam Burns, Augusta housemate and best mate, says Scheffler's a "goofball", but there is a dangerous serious glint in Scheffler's eye as a 25-year-old adoptive Texan.

This has been a key factor in his rapid rise up the rankings. It was enough to earn him a spot in last year's Ryder Cup race and then, thanks to three wins this year, to take Jon Rahm off the top spot on the world list.

He is more connected to his childhood friend James Ragan than any other thing. His death from rare bone cancer at just 20 years old shaped his sense of purpose.

Scheffler and Ragan's parents met on Tuesday to celebrate their 42-day climb from their first PGA Tour win up to the global summit.

Mecklin, Ragan's sister, recalled telling Scheffler that she was so proud of Scheffler and asking him why it took him so long.

James loved Scottie because he saw someone with an amazing talent and wasn’t wasting his talent.

Scheffler, back at Augusta National was not wasting this opportunity.

He was 17 feet tall on the six-foot fairway, and then rolled in to hole out on the eight fairway bunker.

Scheffler was able to make a vital up-and-down from the short side of the target, even when Charl Schwartzel, Charl's playing partner, shot the ball back into the cup on the 10th.

Smith was immediately in front of him and charging four under for his round following a deft chips on 13.

PRETTY UNFAIR

It's difficult to be beautiful. I'm hotter than 10 year ago, and women hate me.

After missing an opportunity to extend his lead on 11, with the ball taking a look before deciding not to go below ground, the ball made a mistake on 12, which led to three more.

It is possible that we will have a contest.
