LIV Golf was founded in 2021 as a rival to the PGA Tour and has signed up some of the sports’ biggest names.

Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cam Smith all compete after signing mega-money contracts.

LIV bosses have announced a lucrative new contract with ITV, which will bring the tournament to homes around the country.

The deal will see 41 rounds of live golf coverage across 14 tournaments throughout the season.

ITV’s streaming service ITVX will provide the bulk of the coverage.

Selected tournaments will also be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITV4 throughout the year.

There will also be a highlights show broadcast every week on ITV4.

LIV Golf Senior Vice President of Broadcast Partnerships and Programming Strategy Ron Wechsler said in a press release: “Our partnership with ITV represents a major milestone as we strive to bring LIV Golf to every corner of the world.

“With a premier sports broadcaster like ITV, we can ensure that more fans than ever will be able to access the excitement of the LIV Golf experience and connect with the world-class players, teams, and stories that make us a truly standalone global sports league.”

Niall Sloane, Director of ITV Sport, added: “This is an exciting time for LIV Golf as we look ahead to the innovative 2025 season.

“This partnership delivers free-to-air coverage for fans in the UK and we are delighted to welcome LIV Golf to ITV Sport.”

LIV recently penned similar deals with Fox Sports in America, Coupang Play in South Korea, and Movistar Plus+ in Spain.

The league features 54-hole tournaments, shotgun starts, raucous crowds, and a unique combination of individual and team-based competition.

Earlier this year, LIV co-founder Greg Norman left his role as chief executive after four years.

Norman has been replaced by Scott O’Neil, who has an impressive pedigree as a sports administrator in the USA.

O’Neil was key in getting a TV deal with Fox Sports over the line – and is already a popular choice among the players.

Two-time Major winner Rahm – LIV’s most expensive recruit after signing a near-£500million deal in 2023 – said the move was a big step forward for the organisation.

He added: “Even though Greg has treated me great, I think having somebody like Scott – who is a little bit outside the world of golf, but very much in the world of sport – makes him kind of a perfect match for the job.

“I talked to Scott for some time at a commercial shoot, and based on what I talked to him about and the vision he has, and his enthusiasm, I think he’s going to have a very positive impact for LIV.

“When you add in the TV deal that’s been agreed with Fox, it’s all looking very positive just now, right?”
