RORY MCILROY'S agonizing miss put by a matter MILLIMETRES saw Shane Lowry win at Wentworth the BMW PGA Championship.

The Irishman won his first victory since 2019 in a hilarious manner.



After winning the BMW PGA Championship, Shane Lowry was thrilled.

McIlroy couldn't believe it when the ball didn’t go in for eagle at 18th.

McIlroy's 18th birthday would have been marked by an eagle, which would have allowed him to join Lowry on 17 and force a playoff.

The four-time major winner was horrified when his putt of 20 yards missed the hole by just millimetres.

Lowry watched in horror from the clubhouse, as the ball made its way towards the hole.

Lowry was able to keep it from dropping, and he celebrated with a lot of joy.

He strangely held out his tongue, and spun it about while looking cross-eyed.

Lowry was wildly celebrating, McIlroy was devastated after missing his putt.

Lowry was a salty joker to McIlroy after the game, saying: "You've won enough!"

Jon Rahm was third in the tournament after a fantastic final round of 62.

Lowry said that Wentworth's win meant more to him because LIV golf rebels TalorGooch and Patrick Reed came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

After securing his first win since 2019, he declared that "this is one to the good guys".

Lowry said: "I made it clear how I feel about this whole thing and wanted the tournament to be won for myself and for those who stayed loyal and did everything for the tour.

"This is one to be proud of."




Since the 2019 Open, Lowry has not been victorious.
