Seve Ballesteros, one of golf's greats, referred to his 1984 Open win at St Andrews as the greatest moment in his professional career.

It will be a very emotional day for Ballesteros, ten years after dad Seve's tragic passing.

Seve Ballesteros is now a legend in golf, and one of the best players ever.

Seve is a two-time Masters winner, and three-time Open champion.

Javier, currently world No1,836, was eager to get his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship started as he teed off on the famous Scottish course.

This will be Javier's first professional competition at St Andrews.

Seve called his 1984 Open win at the course "the happiest moment in my entire sporting life"

Javier, the oldest of Seve’s three children, will be up against world No9 Tony Finau as well as top-20 stars Tyrrell Hatton and Billy Horschel.

Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry and Shane Lowry are among the top names at St Andrews this Week.

In the amateur competition at The Scottish Course, Joe Root, England Test cricket's captain, will be joined by Andriy Shevchenko, ex-Chelsea player and boxing legend Wladimir Kltschko.

Ex-england cricketers Michael Vaughan, Darren Gough and Stephen Hendry will also be present.

Javier will never forget St Andrews.

Javier shared all details about his father ten years after Seve died from brain cancer at the age of 54.

According to him, the BBC reported that he wished his dad was still alive so they could enjoy things together like practicing and enjoying life.

He won five majors, helped Europe win five Ryder Cups, and had a record 50 wins on the European Tour. But I can tell that he was a better father than he is a golfer.

"I'm very proud of how my fans all over the world have shown their love for me and my family.

It is always nice to see his winning tournaments and happy moments on social media.

"A few people have written to me several times and said that this was their son. His name is Seve after your dad.

"Or someone else might say, "My wife won't let me name my son Seve but my cat or dog is Seve", which I find very sweet and makes me very proud."
