ONE of the biggest talking points surrounding the Masters 2025 is whether Tiger Woods is among the entrants.
Woods, 49, is regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time, with the American holding 15 major titles to his name.

Tiger Woods’ participation at the Masters 2025 has been a hot topic
He last won the Masters in 2019, coming 14 years after his most recent triumph in Georgia.
He won his first Green Jacket in 1997, before adding the 2001, 2002, and 2005 crowns to his collection.
Woods is also a four-time PGA Championship winner, and three-time US Open and The Open champion.
Is Tiger Woods playing at the Masters 2025?
The short answer is no.
Woods shared on social media back in March that he had suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, and that the issue would rule him out of Masters contention for a fifth time in his career.
The five-time Green Jacket wearer had joked last week that he would be able to make a miraculous recovery from his injury, but that transpired to be an April Fools’ gag.
It has since been announced that despite missing out on the action, Woods will have a special role in this year’s competition – designing a Par that will be known as the ‘Loop at the Patch’.
What has Tiger Woods said?
Tiger Woods revealed what forced him to go into surgery earlier this year.
Woods posted on X: “As I began to ramp up on my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” Woods wrote in the post.
“The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery. I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.”
Who else is playing?
The rest of golf’s big names will tee off on April 10.
Scottie Scheffler, Woods’ compatriot, is the defending champion and will be looking to earn the Green Jacket for the third time in four years.
Rory McIlroy spearheads the British contingent looking to knock Scheffler off his perch, with the Northern Irishman seeking an elusive Green Jacket that would complete his career Grand Slam at last.
Former US Open champions Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick – 2013 and 2022 respectively – are also among the invitees, with the tournament strictly invite-only.
How do players qualify for the Masters 2025?
There are many different ways in which players can earn an invitation to the calendar’s first major tournament, including being a recent major champion or, in McIlroy’s case, winning a Players’ Championship in the last three years.
The leading 12 players from last year’s Masters tournament also get the nod, as do any that feature in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
