Poulter, 45 said that he is now a "physical wreck" after the amazing event and is preparing for another one.

Europe's Postman, because he always delivers, provided fascinating insight into how much his Ryder Cup heroics drain him.

He will win, lose, draw or whatever happens after he returns to Whistling Straits.

Poulter stated that "After every one of them, I am a wreck for three weeks."

These are the most amazing three days to be mentally and emotionally. I cannot get out of bed. I'm spent. I will have cold sores and look and feel terrible. My body will be exhausted.

"It might seem like I have all the energy the world when singles are on Sunday afternoons. However, by Tuesday, I'm a shell of man. "I've given everything."

Poulter hasn't been stopped from stepping into the ring to be the European captain for the 2025 match at New York. But who knows what a stint as a leader might cost him.

This European talisman boasts a remarkable record of 14 wins and two half-points, as well as six losses in his 22 matches.

When he is ready to give up the clubs, And will be there to support him.

Paul Casey, Whistling Straits' teammate, described him as "Mr Ryder Cup".

Casey said that "Poults was the man all Americans want to defeat -- but they don’t manage it very often."

"I don’t know what it is that makes him tick, but he’s unique. He is the glue of this team.

"We don’t lack energy and we’ll always be a very united team. But he just adds so much to it.

"You don’t see what you get to see in the locker rooms and in the team room. This morning he just rolled by and you can see the bounce in his step."

Matthew Fitzpatrick stated that he would hate to face Poulter in singles. He has won five matches and lost one.

Fitzpatrick stated, "I'm just glad that he's on the side of us. You just want to throw him into the lake when he's making putts all over.

"Yeah, but you don't want that to happen. He's a man on mission when he's on.

"He's almost unstoppable when it comes to doing that to me. It's a long-lasting relationship, and I wish it to continue, starting with this week.

Poults feels that the 2025 match is the right time for him to assume the captaincy, because he wants to play toe-toe against Phil Mickelson.

He believes that being in charge of the Bethpage Black 2025 shootout in front a hostile New York crowd would bring out his best.

Mickelson is the hot tip to lead Yanks in this one, and Poults stated that he would enjoy the match of wits against one of America's most beloved sportsmen.

He smiled and said, "Phil Mickelson and me as rival captains in New York -- it would be such a fun time there. It would be great.

"I love it on away turf. Take a look at my record. It's evident.

"I love the hostility. Not when it gets silly but when you feed off them, wishing you'd miss putsts or miss the ball entirely.

"I would love to do all of that. . . Bethpage Black is a fantastic venue and tough course.

As much as I would love to, I don't think I could play at 49. These puppies will soon be running 500 miles.

There is a problem with Lee Westwood being appointed to replace Padraig Harrintgon for the Ryder Cup captain in Rome. This would leave Poulter as Europe's 2025 captain, making it three consecutive captains from Great Britain and Ireland.

This could cause discontent among the rest of Europe's players, but Poulter dismissed those fears.

He said, "Does it really matter if three GB&I are on the same trot?" Or five. No matter where he is from, you must choose the right man to do the job.

"And of course, the captaincy was on my radar for some time, although I'm extremely proud to have made the team again for this week.

"But once my ability to contribute as a player is over, there's nothing more I'd love than to lead a team."

"All the major names from Europe need to fit in for the captaincy. It will be difficult. It would be wonderful if it were New York.

It would be absolutely insane. It would be a great build-up. There are many cool things you could do in New York. This event will only grow."
