The American won the 2007 Southern Hills PGA Championship.
He made a remarkable comeback at the Masters earlier this month.
He is now on the preliminary entrants list for the next major, the PGA At Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa (Oklahoma).
If he is not feeling well, however, the 15-time major champ may withdraw from the competition before round one on May 19.
The list also includes Phil Mickelson who is the defending champion and is embroiled in a bitter dispute over the controversial Saudi regime.
Woods took home his fourth PGA Championship title at Southern Hills in 2007. This brings his total to 13.
This month, the Florida star stunned the golfing world by his performance at Augusta.
He shot a fantastic one-under-par first round and made it to the cut before falling away over the weekend.
Woods, who has had several back surgeries, plans to play a substantially reduced schedule as he manages his body after the accident.

"That's something I hold dearly.
"I have won two Opens there. It's the home course of golf. I love it so much that I will be there for the next one."
