Adam Hadwin stunned fans with his club throw at the Players Championship

He reacted angrily after finding the water on the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass

After seeing his ball bounce into the water, Hadwin launched his club in too.

It came after a disappointing end to his opening round saw the Canadian slip from par to three under on the final two holes.

After a double bogey on the 17th, Hadwin went one over at the last to end his round tied 127th on the leaderboard.

Reacting to his club throw on social media, one fan wrote: “Very relatable reaction.”

Another added: “Worldie of a golf club throw.”

A third fan also joked: “Great technique there.”

Meanwhile, one more commented: “Adam Hadwin with an A+ club toss.”

Hadwin, 36, is looking to surpass his previous best performance of T9 at the Players Championship.

That result came in 2022 as he finished level with Viktor Hovland, Dustin Johnson and Sepp Straka on seven under.

He will need an improved second round on Friday, though, if he is to make the cut in Florida this time around.

Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele currently share the lead on seven under following their opening rounds.

The tournament, which is seen as golf’s ‘fifth major’, comes with a huge cash prize within its £19.5million purse.

Of the 144 players in the field, 90 are guaranteed to take home at least £32,000.

However, the winner will pocket £3.5million alone ahead of £2.1m for second place and £1.3million for coming in third.
