A monster alligator was spotted in the water at Cognizant Classic, Florida, just feet away from the 14th hole.

LONG putts on the PGA Tour are pretty nerve-wracking in any situation, never mind when there’s a monster alligator peeking over your shoulder.

Andrew Novak had to handle the extra pressure of a lurking gator while trying to sink his par putt on the 14th at the PGA National Members course in Florida.

The monster animal watched on as Novak tried to sink his long putt

The 28-year-old was fighting to stay in the running on the final day of the Cognizat Classic when he had a long putt to save par and remain at 13 under.

But alongside the tense fans watching on was an alligator in the water behind the green that was peering on as Novak lined up his putt.

The Alligator was some way back from Novak, but would have been an intimidating sight nonetheless.

Unfortunately for the North Carolina born tour player he was unable to sink the pressure put and fell back to -12 and further off the lead.

It was a costly hole for Novak who failed to keep pace with leader Austin Eckroat as a result and ultimately ended with a T7 finish.

Eckroat managed a superb final round with his -4 leaving him out of reach to those around him with a total score of -17 earning him his first career win on the PGA Tour.

The huge gators are something that are particularly common when golfing in Florida.

Pros have previously had to interact with the massive creatures to remove them form the fairway in order to continue playing.

While amateur golfers have shared videos of their terrifying confrontations with the snappers including one casual golfer who had to speed off in his cart to avoid getting bitten.

Novak himself has had to deal with the docile animals before when he had to wait to watch one walk across the fairway before taking his tee shot in the Zurich Classic in 2022.
